Old Salt King of the Beach – Spring Wrap Up

The Old Salt Spring King of the Beach offered something new and a blast from the past. The largest payout ever for a King Mackerel $82,610Team Snappers Sea Grill wins the King of the Beach Kingfish Tournament and the return of the Mullet Toss! Two auspicious happenings for one tournament.

The 2017 Spring King, sponsored by Bett’s Fishing Center, saw 591 teams registered to compete for the $200,000+ in cash and prizes.

Conditions, the day of fishing, were more than a little bumpy and those who persevered, weighed & placed absolutely earned their money and their walk across the stage. The prize money got spread around liberally. We paid out 60 places this year plus the 2 lucrative TWT’s.

Here are a few of the bigger winners:

Team Snappers Sea Grill – Capt. Dan Casey took the overall and the HUGE $82,610 payout.

The Single Engine Division (and the 200HP Suzuki Repower Package) was won by Team Fins & Tines – Capt. Dan Plante.

Team Caliente – Capt. Domenic Moletus took the Spanish Mackerel Division for $5,000 & a set of Dogfish Rods.
