Hog snapper, or simply hogfish, are a member of the wrasse family of fishes.  They are also one of the more exotic looking critters to swim on our Florida coastline. The very long “pig-like” snout and its rooting behavior give the hogfish its name. They are know for their bright orange and salmon color, large snout mouth and rooster like fins off the top of their heads.  The average size ranges from 1 to 4 lbs.
