Cobia is the fish on every locals mind and with fuel being so expensive and cobia fishing being close. These fish are going to get punished if they actually pop. You better be first to find them, because by the time you see it on social media, too many boats are on it and it’s over.
After taking some time off, I’ve finally been on the water and after those fish again! The past month has been treacherous when it comes to cold weather and chilly winds, but when I’ve been able to get out, the fishing has been no less than incredible. Ughhh February! This is lining up to be one of those Februaries where cold fronts stack perfectly and keep everyone from venturing out past the shoal most of the month. If it was totally up to me, I wouldn’t venture more than a few hundred yards off the beach until we see a solid 3 days of calm seas in a row.
