Spring has kicked into high gear with March closing out [...]
The first week of March has ranged from 70 to 76 degrees at times. There was lots of sunshine, bait, and a few negative tides. March is a transitional month; redfish and snook begin to make their way out of the backwaters and creeks heading for spawning grounds and bigger meals, in the bay and in the passes.
Spring has Sprung! It’s time to get out on Tampa Bay and enjoy one of West Coast Florida’s best fisheries. Both inside and outside of the estuary, things are firing on all cylinders. For me, the inshore bite for Redfish and Snook has been as good as it gets, with the shallow water population all healthy & hungry.

The Kids Fishing Slam is a labor of love for Old Salt and a unique experience for the kids and families that participate. Kids will fish the seawall at the tournament venue, Madeira Beach Recreation Complex and we will typically host between of 600-700 kids and their families. The kids and their families have a great time and leave with some fine memories. Signup for the 2022 Kids Slam will start in early April.

The past month has been treacherous when it comes to cold weather and chilly winds, but when I’ve been able to get out, the fishing has been no less than incredible. Here on the nature coast, specifically in Ozello, we’ve got crystal clear
