Winner Amberjack Old Salt Photo of the Week

00-PW-AmberjackThis week was Amberjack and we saw a wide range of awesome pictures from half eaten, diving feats and just great hook and line versions. We had over 120 pics submitted and the winner is …. A picture taken on the Hubbard’s Marina 39 hour private charter with angler Bui Duc from Tampa holding the beast with help from the mates.  They caught this 107lb monster Jack on a turrez rod and a jigmaster reel on 50lb braid and a 40lb leader.  Bui Duc is an avid local angler who plans to return to Hubbard’s this memorial day to fish for another monster jack!

March 6th is another full moon 44 hour trip that will depart 10am Friday. This trip offers over 24 hours fishing time and a majority of that time is night fishing time on a full moon when the snapper, squid, tuna, and big grouper are aggressively feeding!

March 20th we will offer another 39 hour fishing trip. These trips offer 20 hours of fishing time with a majority of the fishing time during the day around mid or new moon phases. Hope you can join us for a long-range trip, they are more than memorable and super unique.

March 12th March 26th we will offer 12 hour day trips. The 12 hour day trip goes 40-60 miles offshore to target big amberjack and grouper. These trips are for advanced anglers only since we fish so deep in over 120 foot of water for big fish that fight hard. Also, this trip offers a narrow window of fishing time due to the long run involved on this day trip.

Our 12 hour night trip will begin March 6th on Friday nights. These trips only go 20-30 miles to target mangrove snapper at night. They depart at 7pm and return at 7am.

If you wanted to try offshore fishing in deepwater from a Kayak we do that too at Hubbard’s Marina! The first offshore ‘Yak-attack’ is April 29th from 7am till 7pm. The second offshore ‘Yak-attack’ will be May 20th. Both of these trips will be heading 40-60 miles from shore to drop a group of kayakers on a large wreck. You then can kayak between the multiple wrecks fishing for jacks, mangroves, sharks and more! The past few years this trip has been quite the hit, hope you can join! Only serious kayak anglers with lots of experience fishing from kayaks will be allowed to join these special offshore trips. If you want to go but don’t have lots of experience, come join us for inshore guided tours and build up that confidence level!

Spring break and our beautiful summer aren’t too far away for us at Hubbard’s Marina. Don’t forget towards the end of last year we purchased the rights to rent cabanas, lounge chairs, umbrellas, kayaks and paddleboards on a long section of Treasure Island. This means we can offer you and your friends and family pretty much anything under the sun so we hope you can join us for a spring or summer visit.

Ever wanted to try kayak fishing? Hubbard’s Marina offers kayak rentals at our beach cabana location and also at our main location inside Johns Pass. When you rent a kayak or paddleboard with us you have the option to go alone or with a guide. That guide could be a fishing guide or a sightseeing guide!

The first 63 hour of the year won’t be until May. However, in May we have TWO 63 hour trips for you to choose from the first is a mutton snapper special that will not fish the super deep waters but will be targeting the fat muttons that are heading north after spawning down south in the early spring.

The second 63 hour of May will be deep water trip heading out to fish 600-900 foot of water for snowy, yellow edge, scamp, gag and many more types of grouper! Plus, the pelagic, tiles and all the other unique deep water species! This is truly a trip of a lifetime, and if you ever want to see a promo for it you should check out this video:
