Happy New Year
It’s January and, just like every January for the past 28 years, Old Salt is putting on the Johnny Kellar Inshore Fishing Tournament. We started this tournament due to the very special relationship several Old Salt leaders had with the young Johnny Kellar. Johnny was afflicted with Hemophilia, loved fishing and was in need of an assist. He found one with Old Salt. Read more on the beginnings of the tournament and our special relationship with a fine young man.
The Johnny Kellar raises money for our charity partners and is also the first Old Salt tournament of the year. It offers a great opportunity to get off the couch, get out on the water (maybe burn off a some holiday calories…), catch some fish and get back in the tournament groove.
Tournament entry is reasonable ($25), anglers fish for 5 species and vie for a decent range of prize money. This is a tournament for everyone and it is also fair to say that folks from across the globe come to fish it…. (last years overall winner was a bloke from Jolly Old England).
This year the tournament is being hosted at the all new Harbor Master Tiki Grille at Bay Pines Marina. We are excited to be returning to this great marina. Dave Travis and his family are a class act and awesome Old Salt supporters.
Come out for the Johnny Kellar. Fish to help support some great charities. Fish to get the holiday kinks out of your system. Or, fish just to have some fun. Whatever the reason. Learn more about the Johnny Kellar Inshore Fishing Tournament and register up to fish.
