488 teams signed up to fish the 26th Annual Old Salt Fall King of the Beach November 7, 8 & 9, 2019. On weigh-in day, out of the 488 who set out to chase the crown, 252 returned to the scales. 147 King Mackerel were weighed in the Overall, Single Engine, Ladies and Youth division with 105 Spanish Mackerel were weighed in that Spanish Mackerel division. We weighed fish for a little over 3.5 hours.

Teams were lines in at 6am the morning of Saturday the 9th. They were met with some pretty chippy weather conditions both inshore and offshore for the bulk of the fishing window, encountering particularly stiff winds coupled with challenging seas. You know…. kingfishing weather. By the time the fishing was done, the weather started to calm down and we had a pleasant afternoon to figure out who won what and for how much.

More Than A Fishing Tournament
The KING is a 3 day event. The KING doubles as a community festival attracting folks from miles around. Over the 3 days we saw some 25,000 people on the tournament field.

Day One: Things kicked off on Thursday November 7th at the Captains Meeting/Party where teams checked in, got their boat numbers, swag buckets and had a chance to go over the rules and regulations for the tournament one more time before the fishing started. New friends were made. Old acquaintances were renewed. Food was consumed. Drinks were swallowed. Raffles were done. Vendors sold some items.

Day 2: PARTY. On Friday night we rocked Madeira Beach with live music from 2 outstanding bands. St. Pete Sons took the stage at 6:30pm opening for Seranation who tore the place up beginning at 8:30pm.

Day 3: See the beginning of this post:)…. or, check out the live stream broadcast of the weigh-in and awards. We got it all on video.
The KING is a very big event. We put this tournament on twice a year (when the Kings are running) in Spring and Fall. We hope to see you and your team at the 2019 Spring KING. #fishbigmoney
