The Loop all release billfish tournament is the NameSake event in which founded this great organization. Old Salt is an acronym for Operation Loop Development (OLD) Suncoast Anglers Loop Tournament (SALT) which was the name of the original founding tournament. The Old Salts and the LOOP Tournament is celebrating 40 years of tradition and excellence this year.
This year the LOOP is being hosted by Galati Yachts in beautiful Anna Maria Island and is sanctioned by both the (IGFA) International Game Fish Association and (WBS) the World Billfish Series. It is being held over Memorial Weekend – May 26-29, 2011.
The LOOP among anglers has been called the “Iron Man” of Billfishing Tournaments. Team Hi Hatter (2004 Billfish Division Winners) said, “This is the one to win, because it separates the boys from the men!” Fierce competition and rivalry, 40 years of tradition and an amazing billfishery will bring boats from all over to see who will win the prestigious LOOP Cup.
