2011 FALL KOTB Rules and Regulations

  1. The rules may be changed through the Captain’s Meeting. Register at the Captain’s Meeting or pre-register online at www.OldSaltFishing.org. Captain’s Meeting is mandatory for each boat.
  2. All boats/teams must be paid and registered prior to Saturday, November 5th, 2011. No refund of entry fees unless the tournament is canceled by the tournament committee.
  3. Eligible species limited to King Mackerel. Eligible fish must measure at least 30” from nose to fork.
  4. Fishing starts at 6:00 am Saturday, November 5th, 2011. No lines in the water prior to this time. Boundaries: Cedar Key to Boca Grande Pass, West: 83 20 00 (approx. 30 miles west of the Johns Pass Safe Water Marker).
  5. All fish must be caught with hand held rods and reels.
  6. Two or more boats coming in physical contact during fishing hours in any manner will be disqualified.
  7. This is a captain’s choice tournament. It is up to the discretion of the registered captain to determine whether his or her craft is seaworthy for existing sea conditions. Participants are encouraged to scan channel 16, in addition to the tournament channel (68) to keep abreast of any marine or weather warnings. The captain is responsible  for all members of his/her crew both on and off the water.
  8. All persons must be in weigh-in line by 5:00 PM, Saturday November 5th, 2011 at the Madeira Beach Ball Field, 200 Rex Place, Madeira Beach  (NO EXCEPTIONS), Scales Open at 4pm. You must go to weigh-in/check-in tent first, have your hand stamped & fish tagged (King and/or Spanish) to be eligible to weigh. Every fish must be accompanied with its own weigh slip. (One slip per fish)
  9. Fish may be brought to the weigh-in by boat or by car. A crew member must accompany the fish during the weigh-in. One fish per division per boat may be weighed. The only means of transportation during the tournament is by boat or car.
  10. No rotten or mutilated fish will be weighed in. All fish weighed become property of the Old Salt Fishing Foundation.  All unwanted fish may be donated. All Fish need to be properly iced and cared for.
  11. Any fish weighed-in containing lead or any foreign matter will be subject to disqualification as determined by the tournament weighmaster.
  12. A youth angler eligible for the Youth Angler Awards must be 14 years or younger on the tournament date. They must catch and reel the fish to point of gaff. One fish can be weighed in this division per boat.
  13. A lady eligible for the Lady Angler Awards must be 15 years or older. She must catch and reel the fish to point of gaff. One fish can be weighed in this division per boat.
  14. To be eligible for the Single Outboard Engine Division you must fish from a single outboard engine boat. At time of weigh-in you must choose to weigh your fish in the Single Engine Division or the Overall Division, by indicating it on your weigh slip. Only one fish can be weighed in this division per boat and will not count in the Overall Division. The team must choose the division their fish will be weighed in to prior to weighing their fish.
  15. All protests made to the tournament committee shall be accompanied by $500 cash. Protest must be presented no later than 30 minutes after the last fish is weighed. The $500 cash deposit will be returned if the protest is upheld by the tournament committee. The $500 cash deposit will become the property of the Old Salt Fishing Foundation if the protest is not upheld. Decision of the tournament committee will be final.
  16. Winning anglers may be required to submit to and pass a polygraph test AND / OR allow Tournament Directors to view the boats GPS Tract of the day(s) in questions. Should the angler fail either tests, the tournament committee reserves the right to forfeit all winnings awarded to angler/boat in question.
  17. All Tournament Winners must be present at Tournament Awards to receive Winnings/Check. Anyone Receiving a Check from this Tournament must complete a W-9 Form before check will be written. Awards will begin at 8pm – Saturday November 5th, 2011. (Minimum of One Team Member Authorized to Fill Out Paperwork and Receive Check Must Be Present Otherwise Check will be Forfeited)
  18. A Random Drawing of One Registered “Boat Number” will be held after tournament awards for $500.00 cash prize. Must be Present to Win.
  19. Tournament within a Tournament (optional entry) applies to King of the Beach, King Mackerel Overall division only.
  20. All payouts excluding first place are based on 250 boats. 25th place or last place is based on number of registrations. One Place Paid for every 10 boats Registered, up to 25 Places Paid Total.
  21. The tournament committee has the right to refuse entry to any applicant.  In the event such refusal occurs, 100% of the applicant’s entry fee will be returned.
  22. All Registered boats must comply with State and U.S.C.G. safty regulations.
  23. All decisions of the Tournament Committee and Weighmaster are final.

    Spanish Mackerel Division
  1. All Rules Stated above apply to this division (except: #3, 12, 13, 14, 19).
  2. This is a boat/team event, $55 add on for King of the Beach Registered boats / $110 for Non-King of the Beach boats. No Fishing From Land.
  3. Eligible species limited to Spanish Mackerel. Eligible fish must measure at least 15” from the nose to the fork.
  4. Payouts are based on number of entree’s. One place will be paid for every 10 registered boats.
  5. Only one (1) Spanish Mackerel per boat/team can be weighed in.
