Old Salt gets thousands of kids out fishing every year. Just this past month we put over 500 kids and their families on the seawall at the Madeira Beach Recreation Center in Madeira Beach, Florida for a Kids Fishing Rodeo. It was all free, all afternoon and all fun.

The rodeo is part of the Baddest BBQ on the Bone Fishing Slam Tournament, held annually in June. School is out, Memorial Day is over and Father’s day is approaching. The Rodeo fills the gap. 500+ local youth and their families

Youth and Family Fishing

A centerpiece of Old Salt good works efforts is to provide fishing opportunities to evermore families with children. We strive to lower the barriers to access and provide fun, engaging & educational events. These events take place on seawalls, boats, piers and shorelines on the West Central Florida Gulf Coast. Old Salt and our partners pick up the costs, provide rods, bait and experienced anglers. Lur goal is simple…. get them fishing.

Most of the children we serve have limited opportunities to enjoy fishing activities and our events are often a highlight in their daily lives. When we are truly successful, these children not only develop a love for fishing but, learn valuable life lessons in the process.

Our next youth event “Very Special Kids Fishing Tournament” is held each year at Fort Desoto Park and serves to get 40-50 special needs children & families paired up one on one with local captains for a morning of boating & fishing in and around Tampa Bay.
