I love fishing for snook around structure because 90% of the time the fish has the upper hand. Either when they are wrapping you around bridge and dock pilings, or taking 40 yards of line back into the mangroves where you didn’t even know there was any water. When you hook an angry snook it doesn’t matter if you are using light tackle, fly rod, or a pen 4/0 on a broom stick they are going to take you for a ride. I just hope some day I get some of my lures back.

My favorite species of fish is a toss up between Red Fish and Snook, Due to last years freeze my Father will not let me target Snook this year. I as a Jr Angler would not target Snook this year even if my father would let me because of the same reasons I have been taught through out my life. That said Snook are at the top of my all time favorite to catch/ release but I am having a blast catching this year learning and studying the habits and catching / releasing Red Fish.
